I truely am stoked...I think it would rock if the Ritualist looked like a Priest of Balthazar or a Damned Cleric (probably leaning more on the look of the cleric-blindfolds, anyone?) Anywho, if you hate the fact at looking at clones around you (same armor, same appearance, etc), wait until the event kicks off.

You need to have "core retail version of Guild Wars" in order to play any expansions. But you will have freedom in which expansions you want to own. For example...you can skip any expansions. You can buy #2, skip #3 and buy #4. You will just not have #3 contents...thats all. As I mentioned earlier...Core is must have.
Just wanted to clear this, for new people who is seeking more informations.
Actually, I don't think you need the core to play Chapter 2. In that respect, it is standalone. If you have the original, core Guildwars of course, you will continue to be able to use your original characters for the expansion.

This is not correct. As you said you read long time ago so it has been changed. Chapter 2 or Guild Wars: Factions is a stand-alone game. People can purchase chapter 2 and play without chapter 1. I think this way Anet can bring the most possible players to this game, which is good. The core just means they will set some of the skills of the existing 6 professions as core skills and free for any expension or chapter owners to have.

No, this won't happen. As Geile said today in game that the key is universal, you can give it to anyone, everyone. So it will never run out.

my edit got bumped

here is the official word

STAND ALONE NOT NEED CORE

This one isn't a rumour, it's black-n-white printed official (or whatever colours the magazine used ). Guild Wars: Factions does not require Guild Wars.

core isn't necessary..if so why does it say that if you buy chapter two you will only get the core skills of all 6 professions +all skills of the 2 new ones, thus you have to buy chapter 1 to get the other skills that were missed out.

As soon as it is available...

*grabs access key, enters game, creates two new characters, assassin and ritualist, then takes a look around at where I am...cool!*

I can't wait! And I'm the somethingth person to say that on this thread!

My wife better not come up with any plans because I know where I'll be! On GW playing this new stuff! Just think with these new skills and classes, just how secondaries will rule. Imagine a monk, necro or mesmer with ritualisr secondary? Or other way around. Anyone got any sneek peeks at what the male/female assassin or ritualist will look like?

here's some shots of gaile's talk right after (or before ?) the press release which says pretty much the same thing as the PR:

it's not the entire transcript bt i think i've got the most interesting parts.

Alex Weekes was there shortly after gaile quit. I was busy photoshoping the shots so i didn't quite catch the conversation. But still, i have a nice picture of him:

well, i asked in Game today and they said some time in march.....same time as most of the rest of the x-box 360 games come out....
(the ones that were not told of the befor xmas release, so had to finish up being later than startdate lol..trust them ot release early)

so.....some people will have a hard choice...that is, if they have maxed out their cards or havent got much cash...360 game or Factions.....
least i dont have to worry about that, no 360 lol

Sounds like a fun weekend coming up, I doubt this will be the polished final product,
I know alot people are looking forward to changes, but how much will we find out??
One of my wants is, to have 4 PvE characters, along with being able to PvP with a
pre-made one, since the inventory size sux and I need all 4 characters to hold all my
goodies...

tick tick tick
